power conditioner

Matt,

Sorry for the typos in my post above. I am moving fast and am a rather poor typist!

I am a complete neophyete so take what I say with a giant grain of salt and worth what you are paying for it!

I have a dedicated 20 amp circuit that I have a Shunyata Hydra 2 plugged into. I plug my MC-402 (for my 2 channel listening) and also my MC-7106 for my center and surrounds (for HT). I am using the Shunyata Taipan and Copperhead cables for these.

I also have a second dedicated 20 amp circuit for my front end. I have a Hydra 6 plugged into one outlet and then my MX-119, modified Denon 3910, and as soon as it arrives, my MS300, all plugged into the Hydra 6. I am using the appropriate Shunyata power cords for these sources.

I then have my Richard Gray 400Pro plugged into the other outlet that feeds my front end sources. My HDTV and Tivo unit are plugged into the 400 pro.

There is also another dedicate 15A circuit available, but I am not using it at the moment.

I don't know is this is the best way to do it, but I have zero ground loop hum and everything sounds really great.

I am open to suggestions if there is a better way to do it. I have been able to purchase all of these items at a reasonable cost by shopping carefully...

Can you please elaborate on exactly what components from each company you are using in combination, and how the RGPC and Shunyata are integrated into your system.

After reading through this thread and exchanging PM's with a couple of posters, I settled on two RGPC components: the Pole Pig with either a 1200C or a 600s plugged into the Pole Pig.

I hadn't explored Shunyata, but your post has caught my interest.

Thanks!
Matt

You made the right choice!

Ivan,

Then it is safe to assume with no improvement there was no loss, basically the same as your existing.

RGPC Power Cords produced negative results in my System.

Sorry Dick :dunno:

BTW, Wireworld makes one Power Cable above the Silver Electra, but the connector body is so large, it cannot be connected to a 1201. It simply won't fit, Believe it or Not!

have to check them out, thanks.

As I am sitting here reading and enjoying the information everyone is providing and debating on which item to add next (power cords or rgpc 1200) I can't help but notice a lot of static and small popping noise that I had not noticed so much in my system before. I just added a pair of Klipsch klf-10's that I picked up at a garage sale with a yamaha rx-v395 receiver for $175 for all. The new speakers seem very open and clear, but maybe a little lacking on bass revealing this hissing static noise. Any ideas on what is causing this, whether power cords or rgpc units would help most? Does anyone have an opinion on verastarr power cords?

RGPC Pole Pigs are great for completely isolating front end sources (eliminating all noises inherent in AC & other devices which can put noise back in the line). They are so popular they are constantly on back order!

No experience with verastarr power cords.

Per Ivan's recommendation, I just bought the RGPC 400P. I have had it plugged in for only a couple of days, but I can definitely notice a better picture on my LCD Sony. ie... deeper blacks and better contrast.

For the audio benefits, I am still "waiting", and my ears aren't quite as responsive as my eyes. Overall, I am sure it was well worth it.

I have some bad news if you haven't heard a sonic difference yet. Your not going to.What you hear now is what your going to get. If you want to hear the difference again unplug it for 48hrs and listen to your music without it.. Then plug it in again. There's a big difference.

Agreed, the difference is immediate & should be very noticable audibly speaking.

Oxymoron? :scratch2:

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have plenty of time on my hands to do the old "ABA" thing. So, here I go, starting another project!
Thanks again,

Do you own a Pole Pig or just the 1200's? How do you have your's set up?:scratch2: :scratch2:

I own the following RGPC products:

RGPC 600S LINE CONDITIONER (8)
RGPC 1200S LINE CONDITIONER (24)
RGPC 400 PRO LINE CONDITIONER (4)
RGPC POLE PIG LINE CONDITIONER (2)

My setup is quite complicated, but I will post how I have them a bit later.

The Family wants to watch a Movie now.

At one time, I owned a Krell KAV-300i integrated amp and Thiel 3.6 speakers. I auditioned an RGPC unit and heard no difference. I auditioned a Shunyata Hydra, liked what I heard and bought it.

I recently purchased a pair of Quad 2805s and, without a thought, plugged those into the Hydra. I then bought an MC275 MKV and, remembering it being suggested that amps not be plugged into it, tried the 275 into the Hydra and then the wall (dedicated line). The Hydra easily lost. Next was a C2200 pre and AGAIN without thinking, I plugged it into the Hydra.

Just tonight, I thought I'd do a bit of experimenting, each piece of gear into the Hydra, each piece of gear plugged directly into a dedicated line.

:music:

Anyone want to buy a Hydra?

So did the Hydra get damaged or was there just not good results in sound quality?

The Hydra is pristine. It was just that, as I gradually eliminated the newly-discovered (INSIDIOUS!) negative influence of the Hydra, each component breathed easier and allowed the music to sing more clearly and musically. By comparison, the Hyrda was causing each piece to perform as if ill.

Addition by subtraction.

Right now, the system sounds shockingly good.

RGPC 600S LINE CONDITIONER (8)
RGPC 1200S LINE CONDITIONER (24)
RGPC 400 PRO LINE CONDITIONER (4)
RGPC POLE PIG LINE CONDITIONER (2)

Pole Pigs are used exclusively for front end sources & processors on dedicated lines. Two are needed due to the amount of equipment. Each Pole Pig has 6 outlets, I also have a 600S plugged into each Pole Pig.

The 400 Pro is used on all Video Display Devices, units are powered through the 400 Pro's each on dedicated lines.

The 600S are used in pairs on all amps under the 1201's. One is in Parallel, the other is in series (one Amp plugs directly into the 600S) each on a dedicated outlet.

The remaining (24) 1200S are also used in pairs for the MC1201's & MC2KW's. One is in Parallel, the other is in series (one Amp plugs directly into the 1200S) each on a dedicated outlet.
