Here is my latest expedition with vintage stereo. Must admit that I am sucker for large WPC vintage gear by the usual suspects: Pioneer, Sansui, Marantz, Kenwood, Fisher... and many others. The recent rebuild of the CR-620 & CR-820 have enhanced my focus on Yamaha.

The CA-2010 seems to have a good following and many like. Trolling the typical used local sites, found this unit about 2 hours away. So here goes my rebuild project.

Can you explain us why you replaced all these transistors ?

Restore or repair a unit is not replacing everything without reason (why if they are good ? )
 
This is a good question = your mileage may vary (YMMV)

There was plenty of black creep on most of the semis & large diodes.. and I like to replace all smalls. Have done plenty of re-caps only as well as full rebuilds.

My preference for MY EQUIPMENT is full rebuild. If you gave Yamaha in 1978 the choice of what I put in verses what I replaced, I doubt it would be much of a discussion. It is preference = your machine / your call. Doubt many would want to pay the cost for this type of rebuild = it is costly - not the parts but in terms of time spent.

It sounds very good - "natural" - as they like to say. It is my office area - running it through the paces = and it is very transparent and crisp.
