Wow... The crease(s) can be "fixed". It's axial and not radial so "strength" isn't an issue. But I am not so sure about the outer edge for the surround. It looks like someone attempted a (half-assed) repair of the surround. Depending on the "glue" they used, it may not come off cleanly and could result in needing to use a surround with a smaller ID than the original (if one can be found). If the glue isn't "lumpy" and is nice and flat, a new surround may fit nicely over that glue and be fine. I'm glad you got your money back!
The cone is paper and because of that you can wet it (mist or steam), reshape it, and let it dry a few days. It will hold it's shape. Then treat the crease to re-bind the fibers from the backside (if possible), and let it dry a few days again. I've done that a few times with excellent results.
Although putting a "do not crush" along with a "do not stack" label helps. At least they put it somewhere near the top of the pile.
