Q: What inputs Eico ST 70 ?

Perhaps someone knows. I'd like to use a laptop to input music. The inputs are marked for phono/AM/FM/tape. Nothing says Aux.

It certainly was designed by people who knew they wouldn’t be around to explain themselves!

For your laptop use any of the Hi Level inputs (to the left of center on the Input selector. Stay away from both Phonos and Tape head.

What I do is set the selector to the position I want to use. Then, with a cd playing, find the input jacks that allow the music to come through on both channels.

Why not use AM1 and AM2???? They are line inputs for channel 1 (left) and channel 2 (right). Those are the inputs that I use to measure performance and for cd input. Owners manual states AM2 provided for future AM stereo. If only usingAM1, you have to select mono for both channels to play.

My friend had an Eico ST-40 and if I remember correctly, the single AM2 input jack was mono regardless of the selector switch position so that's why not to use both with a CD player left and right outputs.

probably can modify that, guessing its a jumper on the switch

I just verified input operation on my ST70; AM1 is a left (channel 1) line level input, and AM2 is a right (channel 2) line level input when the selector is set for AM-AM and mode is stereo (or Reverse). Those are the inputs that I have been using for a CD player.
