Been waiting for their rollout so I'll give em a few weeks and give this service a try.. I so hope it will be better than the rest I have tried!
Interesting. I downloaded the app to my iPhone 6s, then created an account inside the app. However, it won't let me sign up for a plan or even a free trial. It just says "no offers available at this time". All the files are samples and a lot of verbage is mixed English and French. I assume because it hasn't officially released in the US yet.
Qobuz handed out logins to the high-end industry so they could begin testing Qobuz with their equipment and have access to it for future product development, and also for them to demo it at RMAF since it was the "official" streaming service of RMAF 2018.It could be not sure , I’ll make sure to keep you guys posted , seems weird if it was only here in Washington state , however I know it was working at the Rockie mountain HiFi show recently as well so people in Colorado should be able to use it .
That seems to be the case with everyone on here except me , I was able to put my credit card info and start my free trial , then I downloaded the app and started streaming qobuz .Qobuz handed out logins to the high-end industry so they could begin testing Qobuz with their equipment and have access to it for future product development, and also for them to demo it at RMAF since it was the "official" streaming service of RMAF 2018.
On my phone app, I can get to a payment screen, but it will not accept my US debit card to start a trial.
I wish we were...Also to add I’m not one of the ones they handed out a login to so I have no affiliation with the hi end dealers .
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, doesn’t make sense to me that they would let you put your cc info and not let you all the way in. Hopefully this isn’t a sign of a shaky company in the future because I am really hoping there better than Tidal as I have been on the fence with jumping ship with them for awhile now .I wish we were...Certainly would make things easier!
I keep trying them regularly, so I'm sure one of us here will finally notice it's a "go" and we'll all be signing up. I would think that once I got to the signup screen and the dollar amounts display in US$, it will be ready.
From what I've read, Qobuz has been around longer than many of the streaming services, and has a larger catalog, so they should have a good, long life ahead. They hired some experts to break into the US market, so it's not like they are just arbitrarily hoping to try it here to see if it works. Handing out the logins for RMAF is also a good way for them to test bandwidth delivery in the US.
One high-end manufacturer I follow has already said Qobuz sounds better than Tidal--I think some of it has to do with the masters the companies receive from the labels, vs. their delivery mechanisms. I know I've heard some bad-sounding files from Tidal myself--some of it comes from UMe (Universal Music) and their watermarking, which gives sort of vague "underwater" sound to the midrange on some titles. UMe was supposed to be sending new files to Tidal without watermarking, but who knows if that ever happened.
I may not hop onto the high-res streaming right away, but will definitely give the 16/44.1 level a try. I'm looking forward to it!
Excellent! Good to hear that.I can say that so far I am finding that qobuz sounds better than Tidal it sounds much more full and natural, I have been doing side by side demos between tidal and qobuz with the same songs and qobuz continually comes out in top with a few in Tidal favor, so far it’s looking promising.
Might be worth a shotExcellent! Good to hear that.
I just had an idea. Rather than a debit card, perhaps I should try PayPal. I wouldn't need to convert anything to foreign currency yet since it is a free trial. Hmmm...
Yeah ikr , don’t know what’s taking them so long but I guess maybe there trying to make sure it’s solid before opening the flood gates .No go with PayPal--there was "a problem with your payment."
Take my money already!![]()
Try downloading the app and going that route .Just got an email inviting me to try a free month of Qobuz but the link brought me to a 404 error page.
