Quick opinion on some TT's

Hi guy's

I'm looking to pick up an inexpensive TT and had a couple in mind.

Sansui SR 525

or

Yamaha YP-77

Thoughts? Opinions?

I like the price on the Yamaha more than the Sansui.
The Sansui does look like it might be a decent one. $200 doesn't seem right though.

Maybe a direct drive with a nice cartridge.

The Sui's only 60ish. Probably be had for 50. I like it because it's direct drive although the Yammy's a nice looking unit but belt. I'm only grabbing one of these because I just can't afford the stupid prices of a Marantz 6300 right now. Hmmm, maybe grab the Sansui and peel the vinyl off and veneer it and pretend it's a Marantz:nutz:

The price on the sansui is very good. The Kenwood 650 is the best of the bunch though.
i would be all over it if it would be local.

The Kenwood is the best of the bunch and may have a nice cart (empire made some good stuff) - also I believe that "white" is solid marble like material and should not be painted!

I believe it's similar to corian and can be dyed with certain wood stains or fabric dye's. I've changed to color of corian before with good results. I just find the white to be a tad to bright. I might just go in with a a-hole lowball and see if he goes for it.

This one poped up as well and looks interesting.

It's not Corian, it's cultured marble - the same stuff that molded bathroom vanities are made of. Essentially it's bits of marble in an epoxy binder. I doubt you're going to get a good dye job with that material, and even if you could you'd be making a mess of a very attractive turntable. They're not white, they're an off-white marble color.

Not a bad idea.

I am going there in just over 2 weeks but it will have to stay in the truck of a small car while we go camping and travelling for a few days after that. With 3 of us in a small car it's not ideal.
