R.I.P. Lena Horne.

She covered a lot of ground while she was alive, and brought a smile to the faces of a lot of people. Another Legend has entered Heaven.

What a beautiful voice and stage presence she had. She was on of my father's favorites.

RIP, Miss Horne.

. One night we were watching TV (I'm guessing this is the late 60's), and an announcer said that after a commercial message Lena Horne would sing "Just One of Those Things." My dad said something like "Excelllent." Sure enough, Lena Horne delivered the goods, and my dad looked at me and said "That song is about a casual affair. It sounds so right when Lena sings it because it sounds like she lived it. Now compare that to Ella Fitzgerald's version. Ella sings it great...but I never got the feeling she actually had an affair. Hmmmm....I guess thats why I like Sinatra's version best." An interesting, memorable lesson from my early years.

I've only discovered this legend in the last year or so and she's become one of my favorite singers. RIP, Ms. Horne... you will be missed. :sadwave:

One of my all-time favorite women with class & talent. Ole Fred Sanford loved her.

Lena Horne, you were a tremendously talented singer and actress. Born and raised in Brooklyn, your career was as ground-breaking as it was entertaining. We will miss you, great lady. Rest in peace forever, beautiful Lena.

I "discovered" Lena Horne as a young kid. The first time I heard her voice is vaguely remembered, and it also involved a radio broadcast and my father commenting on her being a great singer. I've loved listening to her stuff ever since. Truly one of the great female voices of the past century, a great interpreter of song.

R.I.P., Lena Horne. Thank you for the music. You will be missed!

I just read an article about Lena Horne passing away, & felt like she really deserves some recognition from here. I wasn't very familiar with her work, she was most popular in the 40s, but heard her name mentioned several times in my life. I learned a lot in a few minutes, & respect her much more now. Do a little reading, & I'm sure you'll agree.

Amen !! Bingo, buddy !! RIP to one of the dwindling number of "greats"...

Hey there ole friend!

I have this pic as an avatar I can use of her. She has a timeless beauty about her, indeed.
