Hello,

I have a set of Realistic NOVA 30 headphones, and I have some questions. What year are they from? Are they considered any good? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to AK! I have a set of the Nova 30's and they are, depending on what you paid for them, fairly decent headphones.

Some of that RatShack stuff will surprise you. I've got a set of Nova Pro 50s that I bought new way back when. Those were rebadged Sennheiser ... killer phones.

Here's what the catalog says about them:

Budget-Priced Nova-30

  • 3.5" Speakers
  • 30-18,000 Hz
  • Separate Volume Controls

$19.95 New for '77

Deluxe features you wouldn't expect at this low price! Built-in volume controls on each earcup let you adjust volume without leaving your chair. Big 3.5" speakers deliver deep bass. Soft-cushion earcups, padded and adjustable headband. With 10' coiled cord, standard 1/4" plug. 4-16 ohms.

33-1037 ... 19.95

I've only got one one pair of Realistic branded headphones, the Pro 20 specifically. It's just a re-badged Koss K/6A circa 1980. Not a fan of that pair specifically. Very muddy and midrangy. I would probably like others that they offered way back when. I would especially like to try the "LV-10" or the "Pro 1" (appears to be a re-badged Pro4AA.)
