My Realistic tube collection is finally complete, thanks to Scuzzer.

I now have:

a pair of AF-15 el-84 PP monoblocks
a pair of AF-12 6v6 PP monoblocks
and a pair of Carnival SE 6v6 monoblocks

Now comes the fun part, fixing them all up. I will post a picture when I can get them all together. I love the maroon and gold graphics on this line of gear.

The AF-12s are pretty decent little amplifiers; more or less copied from a Grommes amp (earlier, R/S sold their own version of the Grommes). Last I knew, AKer Urchinn has a nice pair...

In fact, my current avatar is a night shot of one of em!

I recently have become a collector since I just picked up a sta-2100D and sta-2300 within the same week for a total cost of less than $60. I gave the 2300 to my dad for good karma and am now using my new 2100 to power my Heresey II's. I never would have thought these monster receivers would put out high quality sound, but research indicates these amps were made by Fostex.

Update

An update to my Realistic collection - I've added:

Another set of Mach One's (4024a)
Two Pair of Nova 8's
Nova 7B
STA-82

Great stuff.

Amazing to see all the old Realistic gear in this thread. The only Realistic I've ever owned is a pair of Minimus 7 speakers, which I still have and are in fine shape. I think I'll use them for computer speakers as soon as I finish my new desk and find something to drive them with. Really decent sounding little speakers they are.

Realistic

I have 3 turntables.....

Lab 390 (Bought new)
Lab 420
Lab 450 (Almost new, less than 2 hrs. on it)

Can't remember the speakers or receiver (do not have them anymore) I bought new in 1981.....

I have mainly speakers, though I'm on the prowl for an STA-2000.

Mach 1 4024a (bought at yard sale, mint & refoamed)
Optimus 1B (neat mint, refoamed woofers though I had to replace a tweeter)
Optimus 45 (lesser known 10" 3 way)
Optimus 400 (need woofers & mids refoamed)
Minimus 7W
Minumus 12
LAB-400 (tone arm lift mechanism doesn't work but sounds good & works otherwise)

My first speakers were a pair of Optimus T-120s. Still have them, restored them this past December. The only other pieces I have are the SA-100C amp and matching tuner TM 100.

I wish I had more!! Really starting to get an itch for Realistic :)

I purchased the STA-90 Reciever and Mach One Speakers as a package in canada for $599 in 1976. I also bought their Lab 300 Turntable at the same time. Unfourtuneatly I got rid of them some time ago. I still have their STA-7/System 7 10 wpc reciever that came with the Miniumus 7 speakers I bought new in 1979 for $229. It still works fine, just a little noise in the controls. I played a Turntable through its MM Phono stage and it sounds good. I've got a 2'nd pair of the Minimus 7's with matching stands, and 2 AMP-300 Audio power meters.

I have a pair of Realistic Optimus 27s and I love them. I run my Pioneer sx 750 first through a Cerwin Vega coffee table subwoofer with crossovers built in to the sub, then route the mids and highs through the 27s. Unbelievable soundstage and clarity.

I'm a 'separates' guy. I've collected back most all the Realistic items I had and sold as a kid between '70-'76. My SA-900 and TM-90 (pictured below) sit on my desk between a pair of Infinity RS-2000 and receive outputs from the computer, TV and DVD player, as well. I also own the Realistic items listed in my signature. In the mid '70's as my power requirements went over 200w/ch I had to dump 'tha Shack' as they weren't keeping up with me.

Really very nice looking and clean combo! They look like new. Bet it sounds nice too!! :thmbsp:

I'll get pictures up. The memorial double LP only says "Radio Shack" on the jacket, but the label says "Realistic."

Edit...New! Improved! Now with photography! The rear-jacket advertising is from the first album, the memorial set didn't have any advertising on it in a pleasant display of good taste.

I had that 90 minutes with Fiedler when I was a kid. Great music but crappy pressing quality.

The only Realistic items that I have are a pair of Minimus 7's that I rebuilt. I gave away my STA-7 receiver about fifteen years ago. I kind of wish I kept it.

Hmmm...

STA-2500 (bought new)
STA-2000 (pre "D")
STA-860
Minimus 7c
Optmus 5b
Nova 7b (2-pair)
Mach One 4024 Pr
Mach One 4029 Pr

No bias in this mancave. Of course there is quite the variety beyond RS stuff.

well today i decided to see just what i had in Realistic gear......I have an STA 2290,2000,960,820,85,20 21,and an SA 150....a pair of Mach 1's(4024a)....a Lab 500,R8010(belt drive)....a 10 band EQ with spectrum display(31-2020) and a APM-500 power meter....pretty much all are in mint condition.....so i guess by the amount of Realistic gear that makes me a Radio Shack collector lol
