Realistic is off balance...

Hello all, I was hoping someone could give a little advise to my situation.
I picked up a Realistic STA 820 on the cheap, and it has an issue with the balance. Now, I've had similar balance issues before but only with headphones.
The left channel is out, and the right works.
However, when I pan the balance switch fro right to left, the sound gets louder and more bassy(?) only in the right channel.
That is to say, turning the balance switch from right to left only changes the volume and tone of the right channel.
I have had this issue with headphones that have gotten yanked out (by my clumsy dog) and it seemed that the bent post wasn't connecting both channels anymore. So they just went in the bin.
What am I looking at concerning the "bent post syndrome" that's happening in my receiver?
Any help, as always, would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with good karma on ya.

Probe the volume pot (hook up a multi-meter and check that the resistance sweeps for both channels)? Perhaps the trace/film for the left channel is burnt/cracked.

Does the mono button change anything?

Balance control is after IC501. Check the outputs of IC501. Probably pin 1 and 7. Any signal? Check each pin to ground.

Also, could check for signal on the inputs to the main amp PCB. Pins/terminals 1 and 2. Check from ground to each pin.

Check caps C511 and C512.

This may help.
