Realistic Mach I's in Central MS

2 sets for $200 is a steal. they're not for everyone but if you listen to a lot of rock/metal these will serve you well. I had a set paired with an SX-939 and it was awesome.

Had a pair...and sold them years ago. I do wish I kept them though. getright99 is correct IMO. They could play rock loud, and reasonably clean with outstanding bass. Those 15" woofers aren't just for looks. Radio Shack had a pair of low angled stands that when used with the Mach One, Really looked impressive and made them sound much better too.

I powered them with a Realistic STA-90 45 wpc receiver and must admit, They really kicked butt with Areosmith's "Get you Wing's" and Rush's "Fly by Night" LP's playing on my Realistic LAB 300 turntable. But at lower volume with most pop/rock they seemed to be missing something. The Energy Pro-22's I replaced them with were in a whole different league (as they should be) with respect to refinement, But still the Mach Ones had a quality that made them appealing in there own way.

If I were to buy vintage Realistic speakers today I'd probably prefer some of the Nova series or their Towers. I think they provided a smoother overall sound and could still rock the house. More livable speakers day to day.

I have always been a fan of Realistic equipment. What ever you budget was back in the day, Something in your price range would come on sale. At the sale price IMO it was top value.

To my thinking, Mach 1 and Minimus 7 are the definitive Realistic speakers. Yes, there are better sounding speakers, even in the Realistic line (the towers), but that is not really the point. Mach 1's are cool and make a statement about stereo equipment back in the day.
