Realistic Mach Ones

I just bought a pair with new caps for 250 and thought it was a great price for them. These speakers really do rock! Bass is incredible and they are fast and tight. Well worth the money in my book, but to each their own!

Holy crap, you could buy a real pair of speakers for that. I realize they're not terrible, but over $600 for a set of inexpensive party speakers?

I couldn't give mine away, although the cabinets were in poor shape.

Just curious... what "real" speakers would you buy for $675?

Guys, I'm listening to the Mach Ones now and they are incredible! Do yourselves a favor and pull them out of the garage and hook them up if it's been a while. Last night I was lucky enough to meet a nice fellow who owned about every good speaker Klipsch made (yeah it was ridiculous). I listened to Cornwalls, LaScala's, CornerHorns, Klipshorns (sorry if I spell these wrong, I'm going by memory) and some Altec Nineteens, along with the Mach Ones (he owned many more speakers that we didn't listen to). I preferred the Mach Ones to most everything... the Altec's beat them out though... but comon, those speakers were amazing (and HUGE)! I may have preffered the Cornwalls a little over the Mach Ones... but look at the size difference? I couldn't have cornwalls if I wanted. Anyways, I love the mach ones!

Happy Listening!!

I have a pair of the "later" ones that are cheapened. They were pretty beat up and someone reconed the woofers with cheap cones. I blew one of the woofers, so I parted the speakers out, helping a couple of AKer's in th process. If I could have found a pair of oem woofers for a reasonable cost, I would have refinished the cabinets, but they look like a turkey after Thanksgiving now.

I would like to find a pair of the 4024's for a reasonable cost, but I am not going to hold my breath.

I'm one of those AKer's! Thanks again for the help jhal.

I tested my early Mach Ones directly against my Polk RTA-11ts when I still had both pairs. The Polks were much more detailed and the bass seemed deeper and more natural. Those are $200 speakers. Polk 15TLs, SRS 2s or 2.3s would be in the $600 range easily.

I'm not a speaker guru, but there are plenty of other well-regarded models at that price that would do the trick. I'm surprised that you liked the Mach Ones better than Cornwalls and Khorns.

Naw, I actually liked the Cornwalls a little better, but they were close. I will say the Khorns may not have been set up correctly, they were in corners, but more of a cubby and not actual corners of the room and I don't think it was optimum placement to be honest.

I think some people on here may be comparing the newer model Mach Ones or something... there was talk of new surrounds? I doubt the early model would need new surrounds, they had rubber surrounds not foam like the later model, and if those were worn out, I am guessing the speaker was pretty abused!

Anyways, I just want to share my experience with them! Taker Easy!
