Realistic Miracord 40A

Picked up this little tank from a yard sale. What a cool little table! Any difference between the Realistic model and the original? Anyone have any tips for service maintenance? I don't use idler wheel tables very much.

Nice find! I have one and it works flawlessly.

The Realistic version is the same as the original.

There were several different versions of the 40 series...1st was the 40 and 40H, no cuing.....2nd version, 40A with cuing.....3rd version, 45 with cuing and antiskate, this one was black and was made for Radio Shack.

Through trial and error, I've found that the tonearm needs a stylus that tracks between 2 to 3 grams to sound good.

Congratulations on a great find

No difference between the Miracord 40a‘s

I picked one up yesterday with both Benjamin and Realistic branding.

I posted recently on this turntable and surprisingly recieved only one response.

If you are not familiar with Jean Nantais and his work with Lenco turntables you can Google him and/or visit the lencoheaven forum.
You will quickly see why his high praise for the 40a should not be taken lightly.

The 40a is a serious table with huge sonic potential.

Once again, congratulations on a great find.

Edit: I have the owner's manual. If you would like a copy I can scan and post it tomorrow.

My Realistic 45 has become my main player for everything, including 78's. Just sounds so right. Great table.

Cool! Thanks. Looks like I'm missing a few of the accessories, dust cover, spindle and a damaged cart sled. But I threw on some headphones and even with what looks like the original Shure RS cart it sounds great!

I read some things about the motor, cleaning and lubing. Anything I need to do here? maybe some 3 and 1 oil?
