No, what I said is that every table has its features or something. As for the sound is better than another. I stated it may sound better to one person compared to another person. NO ONE HAS THE SAME EARS. NO ONE. If some one says they no the best table for everbody. Then I sugest they go out there and market themselves as god. I have some garrard tables that sound better on some albums then my Marantz 6300, empire 598 or thorens. And the last three tables have better cartridges in them. It all depends on the person and even the recording. So I guess in some sence to some people yes. There cheep 80 player may work and sound better to them then a 1000 unit. You cannot compair tables by price and thrills, you must take in count the person, music, space everthing but the most important part is the person using it not the price.

In terms of the way the brand is perceived, that is exactly what I am saying. Mind you a later generation MR-2 could run circles around a lot of older Porches, but a Porsche is still a Porche....

OH well, In the end. If someone is doing vinyl even on a cheep turntable or pricey turntable. Its all the same. Vinyl is better. We could go on forever. and we are not going to change each others minds. the end.

Personally, I would think it was really cool to have a (excuse the pun) decked out Lab-420 Nice real wood veneer glowing up at you, glint off the shiny cover. It isn't your run of the mill plastic TT's You'd be the only kid on the block with one. That being said I don't know that I could justify that much (I know exactly what goes into, so I am not saying it isn't worth it, just I couldn't justify it) I would however be tempted to send it off to get it mechanically sound, and do the refinishing work myself as a fun project. Of Course maybe the other order would be better do the finish work then send it off in case I tore something up. I have several Marantz TT's and they all give me the warm fuzzies Something about that Name badge looking up at me and warmth of that wood (Ok vinyl). I have one 6200 that I am practicing tearing down and reveneering. Several folks told me I was nuts to put that much effort in a lowly 6200 But to me it is worth that and more. And I enjoy learning to do such projects when within my ability. I don't begrudge a technician their salt especially if they are worth their salt.

Coincidently, I am a Realistic fan, and drive a Toyota. However, I just did miss out on a Marantz 6110 auction.

Realistic the brand, then yes i agree. But this model along with the LAB-400 stepped outside the box imo.

Marantz vs Realistic....IMHO these are at somewhat different ends of the *perceived* quality spectrum.

This is kinda like saying I can buy a used Porsche for $20k or I can fix up my Toyota to go just as fast and handle as well for $15k. At the end of the day which would you rather have parked in your driveway?

no offense to all you souped-up Toyota fans out there...

I'd take the Toyota over the Porsche because the Porsche will break the wallet on repairs and the Toyota won't.

On the same note I picked up a working 6200 for $20 so that blows the comparison outta the water.
