Recapping AR-4X

:yes:Before I finshed the second speaker I listened to the first in mono. Didn't sound bad. But it was bugging me that I had them wired "wrong".

So I popped off the woofer and corrected per the shcematic on CSP and the way the PO had them wired - which is yellow wire going to tweeter to base on pot and to positive (yellow mark too) on tweeter. I'm so confused I do not know what phase that is.

But it does sound better than when I was playing it the other way mono. So this is the way I'm going.

I'm not very good at reading schematic and relating it to what I'm doing phase wise but I'll bet you could tell that already couldn't you :yes:

Thinking it through, the original pot MIGHT maintain a more constant speaker voice with varying tweeter levels than just a straight L-Pad, depending upon what the actual impedance values are. Thus, the hybrid (L-Pad plus parallel resistor) solution developed by RoyC to mimick the pot would appear to be a preferred replacement path, subject to confirmation via actual performance measurements:

I was hesitant to put the wire colors on there, as I don't have any AR4x here to verify. I'll fix it later, if necessary....

260-252 (or 260-255 for the 1" long shaft version,) and 004-25.

Wired guy built those from scratch. They are supplemental curve-shaping filters for the EconoWave crossovers in his AR4x upgrade project.... :yes:

Oh so smooth.

I haven't really cranked them up yet though--the glue is still drying the 116H woofers! I'll hopefully be spending some quality time with them tonight.
