Recommendation On Active Crossover

I was very surprised at the hiss level. It has to be the crossovers, as it's not there with just the amps on, and it wasn't there when I was single amping Bozak Concert Grands with the one of the same amplifiers through the same system. I have two, and they came from wildly disparate places-it's possible that one's faulty, but it sounds fine otherwise. Magnepans are 81-82db/w (I don't care what the factory says, it takes between 250-450w out of my Yamaha PC-5002M to make my Tympani 1B's jump), and so your background noise is going to be 10db less than my 91db/w Bozak Concert Grands. I need to look into the kdcx upgrades.

No. The X1 is designed specifically for certain NHT subs of the era. It has built-in EQ for those models, including your W2. If you have any other sub, the X2 is recommended. The X1 might "work" for other ones, but it won't be optimal.

I drive the Midrange panels and Ribbons with Quicksilver tube amps and the input levels on those channels are matched to the SS driving the bass panels and subwoofers, so the gain is not the issue IMHO. MGIIIa are 85Db for what it is worth.

I don't recall any particular issue with hiss from mine either, and it's normally connected to a system using 98dB/W/m speakers. Maybe it depends on the combination of settings?

It could be. I'll have to pull it from the system and try it with other surrounding gear, and scope the outputs. I just don't want to decommission my biamped Bozak LCR Concert Grands in my living room. My eventual plan is to quad-amp the Concert Grands with supertweeters using the two DCX2496's and a Crestron CNAMPX-16x60. But, I've procrastinated on putting all that together.

I picked up a used Rane at the flea market for 20 bucks. It would cut in and out when I moved the 1/4 input jacks. Pulled the covers, heated up the soldering iron and fixed a few cracked solder joints. Good as new.

I will test an Ashly XR4001 at this point, as I could get a decent one locally for 200 dollars inc shipping
XR2001 was/is only available from US and would have been 450 inc shipping
Main concern is that its quiet and dont mess up phasing to much

Ok so I got an Ashley XR4001, It looks good exept its missing 5 knobs for adjustment pots.
My OCD don't allow this.
Do you know where I can get new knobs?

If you can’t find originals, you can replace them all inexpensively. Search Amazon for “potentiometer knobs” or “knurled shaft knobs”, they have a wide variety of styles.

I don't post here often, but as I run an active system I thought I would add my 6 eggs.
I use a modified NAD C320 as a preamp feeding 2 Behringer CX2310 crossovers set up as a double mono 3 way system. There is also a 25 band stereo EQ sat in the tape loop for occasional use. This lot is connected to a Rotel RB976Mk2 triple stereo poweramp with upgraded power supplies and various other mods including extra PS filtering to the VAS stages. The speakers are of my own design utilising 8" bass units in a transmission line enclosure with a 6.5" mid and horn loaded tweeter mounted in a separate top cabinet. I have service manuals for all the equipment I use and all mods have been done very carefully over a long period.
The CX2310s suffer from a weakness in the power supplies. If the rectifier snubber caps blow you will get full volume 50Hz hum straight on the outputs (bye bye tweeters). I have built in additional high quality fully smoothed separate power supplies into them. This improved the sound a little. Generally speaking, the Behringers have a good circuit topology using low noise OP amps, but it pays to move the pots up and down now and again to stop pot noise. The frequency settings are a little vague and it helps to use an analysis system to set them accurately. The slopes are fairly accurate 24dB/Octave LR. The system overall is virtually silent which is supported by measurement with an oscilloscope. The system is setup with CO points at 240Hz and 1.9KHz with about 3dB bass lift for baffle step correction.
