Look for "Dahlquist DQ-1W Lower Bass Module" online and see what you find. They were designed to match DQ-10s.

I use a Velodyne Impact 10 with my 10's. It is tight and even plays pipe organ well.

I've seen pictures of the matching sub. I would probably look for that first (if I were the OP), unless the DQ10 is really-easy to match with a sub.
It's weird how the Quad, the DQ10, and the Wharfedale SFB all look very-much-alike, and yet each one uses a totally-different design to achieve a very-similar sound.

The DQ10 is well known for needing help at the lower end. I use a small Klipsch sub with mine. While they definately need a sub to sound their best I don't believe it needs to be a large one.

FWIW, I used an Audiopro B2-50 with the DQ-10s I used to have. The combination seemed to work very well... better even than I've heard with single DQ-1. I'm not sure if a pair of DQ-1s might not be better still, but I suspect a pair of DQ-1, and their crossover, and an amp to run them, will cost more than stacking two pair of DQ-10s!
Just acquired DQ-10's a couple of weeks ago. I tempoarily swapped them for my NHT Super Two's in my 5.1 living room setup. The 125w x 7 Denon AVR has enough power to open them up well around -5 dB with vinyl. I haven't touched the AVR or SubOne settings which is set to the music contour, low volume and the top end of LFE is 85 hZ. I'm going to hook up a TV to the AVR work with the settings tomorrow. I have to anyway because not surprisingly all I'm getting is center channel at normal TV volume levels. Suggestions for the LFE setting with DQ-10's?
Long term the DQ-10's are going into a 2ch room of their own once I get a suitable amp. I've been looking at 2nd hand subs and the kits at Parts Express. I have more questions than answers at this point for a dedicated music system. 1 or 2 subs? Dahlquist or other? Powered or un-powered. And then how do you distinguish a music sub from a movie sub? The descriptions at PE are of no help. They claim they all do both equally well. I doubt it. There's a HUGE difference when all I do is flip the switch on the SubOne from Music to Movie contours.

I had the DQ-1 with my first pair and I have to say it was quite a sweet pairing.
That being said I have tried numerous others with the more recent pair I had. (Now with Elchoholic) I had mixed results. I will say that the M&K Volkswoofer is really nice. It compliments many different types of speakers well and was quite musical.
They can be found on the cheap too.
I also have to say that with a good amp they tend to go plenty low. I found the sub just added something tactile to the experience.

Exactly Eric. The low bass is there, just looking for a little impact for R&R as long as it's tight and well behaved. I'm working on finding the right amp as well. I've never owned or really cared for bass centric speakers. Besides my NHT's SuperTwos, I have B&O M70's and Allison AL110's all polite, detailed and well-rounded. Much like myself

During classical saturday am with coffee this morning I discovered the sub wasn't doing anything. The din plug had pulled out of the controller. I did a before and after of Telarc's Firebird Suite. I left the sub settings at 85 hZ for some overlap with the DQ-10's 35 hZ floor. I played the last few minutes sub-only and adjusted the volume for the kettle drums to sound good. The side was better with the sub than without but despite low bass's supposed non-directionality it was bugging me being all on the left. I'll run two or center the one me thinks. I tried an Earl Klugh record and it was too bassy so I turn the sub volume down a little. I have Joe Pass's I Remember Charlie Parker on now and all is well. These speakers are just awesome on the Denon AVR, can't wait for a good amp

Yeah, I'm not so much a slam me in the chest kind of bass fan. More like I want to feel and hear the vibration form basses and large drums etc.
I used a single sub in the center. I had it turned way down and I felt it added nicely. I suppose I could have turned it up for more impact but most of what I listen too doesn't call for it.
