I will be there for work all next week and was wondering if anyone knows if there are any good record stores in the area, and also a good steak house would be nice.

Thanks Jeff

Lou's records is in Encinitas, not to far away and had a good selection when I was there before. I think it is on Highway 101.

Check out a little store on Adams Ave....take the I-15 South from Escondido and exit Adams Ave it will force you into a U-turn, then take a left at the light onto Adams Ave...go down about about a half-mile and you will see a Starbucks...right across the street from the Starbucks (on the left side of the street) there is a used vinyl shop ran by a really nice lady. Pretty good selection of classic rock....if you notice a little sign on the same side of street that says "We Buy Used Turntables" you will be very close to her store::D

It may not be as good as Lou's but it is a tad bit closer to you....I think she closes early so going at noon on your lunch break is a good way to spend a nice hour or two in San Diego...I picked up a mint copy of Wings Across America (3 lps) for $7...to give you an idea

I was in the California Conservation Corps in 1980 and was stationed in Escondido. I'm sure the place has changed plenty since I was there. I worked on the Australia section of the wild animal park. We poured concrete. We would work on different areas every 4th week as we had 4 crews and they would trade off. The Cafeteria was great there!
