Rega Fono MM

Just wondering if any one can tell me if it would be a significant step up for the Rega Fono MM over using the built-in phono pre in my Rega Elex-r?

Did you get anywhere on that question? I have the Elex-R and just recently added an RP6. My current set-up in the room has my wall mount about 5 feet away from my amp. So I am looking at getting the fono MM to keep that distance. I would like to know if it is as good or better that the Elex-R

I've just bought a fono mini, and was under the impression it's the same circuitry as that found in their Brio amp, which is their budget model.
