Rek-O-Kut Turntables - ROK

I had posted this in the general turntable section, but wanted to make sure that the Rek-O-Kut friends saw it. My two later Rek-O-Kut B-12Hs are both missing the nameplates and after 20 years, I was able to find a decent substitute. There was a seller on Ebay offering Audio Plates and I asked them if they would be willing to make some for my tables. In less than 24hrs, the seller made some aluminum, adhesive backed nameplates for me (not decals, but they look great!) . I suggested that they also offer B-12 and B-12GH and he cranked them out. I am pretty happy. Here is the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rekokut-B-...table-Badge-Custom-Made-Aluminum/174577368078 He has since lightened the grey on the left and centered the "Stereo Table" a little more. Mine are in the mail!

Yeah, saw those, it’s nice to see stuff like that being available....

A month or so ago, I ordered a replaced wheel from the auction seller in Vermont. Couldn't be happier, it's made a huge difference on my L-34 in terms of rumble.

I had replaced one of the originals with a "restored" rubber wheel, and while that was an improvement, the new delrin wheel is fantastic. I wonder if it has to do with the old brass bushings wearing out, but either way, very happy.

Can you please post a link to this wheel seller you got?

yep that’s the one. YMMV and so on but I was surprised by how much quieter it is now, and come to think of it, I haven’t even dialed in the pressure screw for speed yet. Just replaced it straight up. Moved the other rebuilt wheel to the 45 post.

my last issue with mine is howl at high volumes, but I have it pretty close to the speakers. It is much less of a problem now that the rumble has been reduced.

BTW

Abe also built the wheel for my Rondine Deluxe in post #1721 above, and it’s dead quite now....it has the large bronze bushing.

I ordered an idler when I posted that link - I had searched him out before and had meant to get one, seeing the post spurred me into action. Anyway, it arrived yesterday and looks great, I'll try to get it installed this weekend.

I bought one too. One unrestored table made a huge difference. My working one was slightly better. It looks high quality.

I removed the Black Widow and Grado wooden tonearms from my B-12 and added a Denon DA-50 on the back of the plinth. Because of how awkward it is to reach the cuing lever on hte back of the plinth, I turned it 90 degrees so the side is now the front. I put a Grado XF1 in the tonearm and now have the best sound I've ever had from any source in my system.

Hi AK members,
Waiting on a Rondine Jr. 34 to arrive. It looks to be in great shape besides the idler wheels and motor grommets. Since I’m not to familiar with these tables is it best to just change out the 2 idler wheels while I’m in their? Are they both the same wheels does anyone know as I plan on ordering the Delrin replacements as I’ve heard good things about them.
I have the manuals for the table and Micropoise arm so adjustments should be relatively straight forward, hopefully. Any helpful hints on maintenance, bearing oil, etc. would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

glad to have a thread to check out on these Rek O Kuts, should make it easier to get it working properly.

I would not start with replacement idler wheels. I ordered one for my B12H and it is drastically noisier than the original, probably a matter of wear on the idler spindle. I would say that resurfacing the originals is a better way to go. By all means try the delrin ones but I wouldn't assume they'd be an improvement on the original.
