Renaissance 90 Adventure!

It was a natural progression...and my hunch was correct. If you look closely in this picture you will notice Revel voicing their Ultima GEMS to some IRS Omega's...It's a stretch but you can see how Revels in many way's may be cousins of some of Infinity IRS speakers. My Revels definitely have an Infinity "house" sound.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack....Aaron...your thoughts?

Revel and Infinity are both owned by Harmon right? It would be interesting if Revel is trying to match the old infinity sound. . . I understand that a lot of the current components are shared by Infinity and Revel, kind of like Toyota/Lexus - same people, some shared parts, different experience.

I kept the 90's. They were in mint condition, whereas my 80's were not. I like the look and sound of the 90's more as well

This entire thread has been quite interesting and inspiring. I've had a pair of Ren 90's I bought new in 1993 and just last year was able to power them adequately. I had never heard them sound the way they were meant to sound. That is, with enough power, and I haven't looked back. I currently have my MC402 amps running in mono parallel mode, giving each speaker about 80 watts at low listening volume and up to 800 watt peaks at times. They truly love the power and respond with beautiful, crisp sound. I have considered upgrading my speakers and amps with larger ones because the room in which these Ren 90s play is quite large, but for now, I remain quite satisfied. One thing I will say, though, I prefer the added punch of my Velodyne sub, as these Rens have never really been great at the depths of their frequency response. What kind of power were you running before neodoc?

With my Marantz unit running about 30wpc class-a and 140 a/b (into 8 ohms) and they sound fantastic compared to a 300wpc denon that was tried.

Trying my music link monoblocks rated at 75wpc in heavy biased class A power. They still sound fantastic.

At normal listening levels, you would barely hit a watt or two....

I was using the Pioneer A90 amp that I now use exclusively to run my BA Voyagers out on the patio. It was set to 4-Ohms and would clip on occasion during loud passages not being played very loudly. It just wasn't up to par for these speakers.
