want to go 6.1 or 7.1,5.1 it sounds great by all means happy with it,got it for a really good price, but just want to up grade

What DVD's can you get that will play 6.1 or for that matter 7.1? Am I that out of touch with this these days? I mean, what ever I rent it typically only will do 5.1. Is the funny sound fields what you are after with 6.1 or 7.1?

JBL and Yamaha makes a good combination so I would recommend looking @ the latest Yamaha offerings!!!

I bought the Yamaha RX-V1300 (APR '03 ) which is 6.1 and what I discovered early on is that one of the great options available is Forcing-ON the Matrix 6.1 Mode with any of my DD/DTS 5.1 blockbuster DVD's!!! The effects can range from very subtle to down-right jaw-dropping!!! :thmbsp: :thmbsp:

FYI: You can read about it in my RX-V1300 subjective review!

If I was in the market for a new receiver, I would get one with HDMI inputs for switching video and audio. If you like Yamaha, they have the RXV4600 that will do everything you want at a decent price. If you do not need HDMI switching, I would recommend the Outlaw 990 which has received great reviews for sound quality.
