RIP, John Mayall

I'll have to play a few albums tonight. Never saw him in person. What an amazing musician.
RIP, John Mayall.

My 1971 Bluesbreakers LP is only a bit noisy, but still playable enough to enjoy. John Mayall's music entered my life at the same time Maryjayne did, and it was a wonderfully synergistic combination. I was fortunate to see him in Milwaukee, but thought the $4.50 ticket price was a bit high ... as was I. :naughty:

R.I.P.
Thanks for the body of work and life lived.
Job well done.

Seen him in a small bar in the Derby say late 70's. Small three piece IIRC with him on piano and harmonica. Him only clad in a pair of tight tight short shorts no shoes or shirt singing and banging on the ivory.

What a night!

I saw him and the Blues Breakers at the Cowtown Ball room in Kansas City during the winter of 1974. Helped me understand the Rolling Stones and Cream a bit better !!!

Rip Mr. Mayall

Saw him late 1969 or early '70 at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. Don't remember who was in the line-up at the time.

I must put on that one album that I have, "... with Eric Clapton." It'll surely make me think of my mom, who died just last summer. She picked up that album and another one (kind of opposite sides of British music, with the other being that really popular at the time Adam and the Ants LP) from me when she made a visit to the UK with a friend, when I was a teenager. Though I never was quite a blues nut, I dug this album and dug Eric Clapton's on it, even if I never was a Clapton fan either, Cream and Blind Faith notwithstanding. His music on that album always struck me as being true to the feel of the real American blues, yet has it's own unique character to it...
