Any ideas about the faded VU Meter?

I don't have a steady hand for any hand restoration so I personally would either source a replacement or do something like this reprinting the background:

Yes

Locate the colour paper you want for the background. Use acid free paper.
Scan the original VU background
Photoshop it to remove the unwanted colour (staining, ECT)
Add any other items you want, optimize the color for the overdrive section, ECT
Print it in colour
Replace

Thank you both, I thought I had seen an article about it years ago but couldn't remember where.

I'll try to locate some acid free paper in that ivory sort of colour that the meter has. Thank you!

I have a RT701 and 707 that will benefit from you efforts. I even bought partially stripped RT707 so I'd have the PCB's to rebuild and then just swap them out.

I'm interested in what you've done to the supply supply ? a Recap ? An grade or improvements? I've searching for thread on this subject and that how I found you folks.
