Rush: A Musical Journey

Geddy still playing bass and keyboard and singing at a high level at the 40th. He even dances around the stage. He certainly is singing differently between the two videos but I still find it enjoyable.

You go man

Unrelated, because I just looked at your profile. My nephew started at OU this year.
That's cool. I tend to avoid campus at all times but OU seems to be on an upswing lately. They were in crisis mode for awhile. They were trying to get away from being just a party school. Lol

"Roll The Bones" was the last thing I really liked.

After Moving Pictures, anytime a new album was released, I used to say "the new RUSH album makes the previous RUSH album sound a lot better".

I also used to say- after the keyboard breakdown started in YYZ- "and from then on every RUSH song sounded like that".

I saw them circa 2005 and they were GREAT (clothes dryers set). 70% classic material.

Saw them again on Snakes and Arrows. Meh. 70% new material.

I should have liked Clockwork Angels.

I need to revisit that and a few recent posts- thanks @Crazy Gnome

There is no denying the talent.

You are welcome. I am inspired as well. I haven't really dug into Vapor Trails , Test for Echo or Presto. They definitely kept growing as musicians all the way to the end.
I was not enthusiastic about Clockwork Angels initially. That album required more listens to sink in.

I came late to the "Party" when it came to "Rush".

Had liked a few of their bigger hits in the past, but at the time, seemed a little too heavy to my way of thinking, so they became second-level listening.

But it all changed when I ended up taking in their "Time Machine" tour offering.

What I had missed in the interim was tons of talent, on all that make up rock music; the depth of playing skills, complex arrangements, cohesion with the manner in which they literally "attacked" their tunes. Then there was the constantly changing tempos, that seemed akin to the different movements that occur in classical music.

Yep, a late partyer, but enjoying the catching up on this phenomenal band of many talents in writing, interpretation and sharing their style of music.

First time I saw them was the 2112 Tour (1976), I was 14. My mom worked a concession booth at the local Memorial Centre where they played...she caved to my weeks of begging and took me along for the show...
Growing up in Southern Ontario (Ohio) I was into them almost as early as you locals, bought Rush in early 1975 when I was 10. Station I listened to (on good atmospheric days) pretty much broke them into the States.

:trebon:  Way to go!
I completely understand what's going on thanks so much for sharing your opinions. Your unique perspective of dismissing 30 years worth of albums and then blasting Geddy's voice is what we all needed to hear.
Oh wait tons of casual Rush fans feel that way and gobs of people don't like Geddy's voice so I guess it isn't all that unique of a perspective.
Just my opinion bro.My fav band is Pink Floyd but some of their music is definitely subpar.I calls em like I sees em.
