Found a Pioneer SA-8100 for $25.Guy who owns it says it's in mint condition looking at it but when turned on it'll work for 10 minutes or so then go into protection mode.Is this worth pursuing...........Rick:scratch2:

How good a tech are you?

Problems are probably simple, but will require some real sorting out.

First hook up a voltmeter to the speaker terminals, and watch the DC voltage with no or minimum sound, just before it goes into protect, if the voltages are still below 0.1 volts then we need to do some preventative (inexpensive) shotgunning on the protect circuit itself.

Once in protect, you can't read the voltages because the speakers are disconnected - so you have to catch it in the act - or open it up after it misbehaves, to take readings.

Do you have a DMM?
