Definitely need to bookmark this. Love my SA-8800. Best Integrated I've owned to date. Use mine to power Pioneer DSS9 and Vienna Acoustic Haydn speakers. Also, using the pre-out, run an Adcom that drives my Bose 901 II Continentals. The SA makes for a great pre-amp. I may have to consider doing this.

Sorry for dropping the ball. I destroyed the amp soon after my last post and have since been too busy to resuscitate it. I went through the unit until the short was found. I fixed it and re-tested with the DBT which went great. I unplugged the DBT, turned the unit on, then ZAP!!!!!! Smoke all across the heat sink. Thanks to very fast reflexes, I was able to flip the switch off less than a second after it started, but it didn't matter. It was too late. Sheese-a no whorck. One of a few morals to this story: certain thermal pastes can potentially conduct electricity (Arctic Silver). Avoid them. I'll try to un-destroy it when I get some free time. Until then, I'm open to suggestions on how to proceed at that time.

firstly you need plenty of time and patience . plus a place you can work on it and leave it in pieces .
then you need to test everything on the board . like all resistors and all transistors . its best to replace the bias trimmers too . in fact its a must with this amp as if one goes open for even less than a second you will be starting over again .
