Sacramento, Ca "Fest"?

It may be against the rules, but if the idea were to be posted, say, in the vintage forum, there may be a greater response.
The only way I knew about the post was through a PM. I never would have seen it.

A quasi-acceptable way to promote a meet is to put the date and a link to this thread in your AK signature. We did that with the last SoCal meet and nobody complained. If you regularly post in the vintage forum, people will see your signature.

Jim (CDFixer) and I are looking at dates in late January or early February for another SoCal meet. He's checking the availability of the clubhouse we used last year. We will post potential dates soon.

OK, I'm back from vacation and checked on the room. The rental is $125 to use the room from 10-3 and we have an hour max on either side for setup. Of course we can setup during 10-3 as well. If everyone pays $5 and we have 25 people show up that will cover it. The cafe is not open unless we pay to have someone work it and unless they pour the alcohol we can't have any. Personally that's not a big deal to me. We can still bring in food and non alcoholic beverages at no charge.

I'm checking on the following dates, all Saturdays:

February 16th
March 1st
March 8th

Looking over the room there are only 3 power outlets in a 27x36 room. We'll have to use lots of power cords and hope we don't blow any circuits. :D I'll have my gear at my house which is a five minute walk away and we can always setup gear in my living room and garage if necessary. I'll post back in the next couple of days when I find out if any of those dates are available.

I've got the date:

OP that looks cool. Let us know how it goes.

OK I've narrowed down a date of Saturday March 1, 2008 from 10-3. How does that work for everyone??? The cost will be $5 each to cover the cost of the room rental. I'll make up any short fall and if there is money left over it will go towards door prizes.

Hi Njord:

Yes, as Pete notes I was at the SoCal meet and I remember saying hello to you briefly.

I am in the San Jose area but my family roots are in Ballylongford, Ireland.

From your Introduction elsewhere on this site I recall you also have an interest in Genealogy, having traced your ancestors back several centuries.

My family lived on the same farm in Ballylongford for several hundred years until very recently; but that is a story for another time and place.

Regards

You may have met him. He was at our SoCal fest last winter.

He was? I don't remember meeting him but I look forward to on March 1st.

NN, Spring skiing in the Sierras is the best time of year. :thmbsp: Maybe I'll join you.

He brought a very nice pair of JBL L-100s and brough me a SR-838 turntable. Ring a bell?

Jim is looking into availabe dates in late January or very early February to have an Orange County meet. We need to get cracking and set it up.

Oh, yes - silly me, I remember now! I guess my vision of you as an Irish gent blurred that from my memory! I am looking forward to meeting you again to discuss stereos and genealogy in Sacramento if I am able to make it there.

All the best,

Should be a piece of cake for me. I might even be able to scrounge up a few things for door prizes if you want. Government surplus is great!

I'll place the deposit on the room next week. When I do I'll start another thread with details and we can close this thread.

I don't remember him but then again like most over 40 I have CRS disease. :D
