OK, just brought a 1000A back on line, slowly, all lit up but no output to speaks or head phones. Any help would be appreciated, hopefully something simple.

Getting a 1000A "back from the dead" is not simple.

Rob,

What do you mean by "slowly", did you use a Variac or dim bulb tester?

One problem that "killed" my 1000A was a gassy tube that blew out a section of the large power resisters on the top of the chassis.

It killed the B+ to most of the set.

I don't want to discourage you, but once you fix the "no sound" complaint, there are other "time bombs" in the set that may cause it to fail again, even to destroying OP and power transformers.

Paper In Oil capacitors WILL be bad or will fail, these need to be replaced, along with other electrolytic caps and power supply diodes.

Then you need to ventilate the unit as they run HOT.

There are links all over AK as to what is needed to get these sets running as a "daily driver" with no failures.

Thanks for the input Mark, I did do research on cap issues as such and realize the potential problems. I did use a variac, metered, to bring this unit on line watching for voltage drops. I didn't notice anything unusual throughout the process such as the obvious, smoke. Next step will be recapping the unit.
