No, but that is almost the same. Maybe I should read the 9090, and 9090DB threads, it is nearly the same receiver as well. You picked a good one. The 9090db seems to be the general favorite, but the 8080 is not far behind. Is it the db model?
No, I am just curious what everyone thinks. I will try to take some good pics of mine, and give my impressions when I get it all cleaned up and have time to listen to it a bit. There is so much that can be said about the Sansui. Rather than spilling a bunch of unneeded words, is there something specific you want to know about it/them?

I have a 8080 Sansui , if it's 80 watts per channel why does it read 520 watts on the back?Thank you. I guess the 8080 is mostly the same as the 9090, just lower wattage rating.
Mine is in good condition, other than the vinyl veneer starting to curl near the bottom. I am actually thinking about either enlisting some help making a new solid wood case, or trying to veneer the original.
I love the look of real wood, with a few coats of a good oil varnish.
using 1 pair can be 8 or 4 ohms, 2 pair 8 ohmsI was also wondering , if only run one pair of speakers should they be 8 ohm ?
520 is rating the units draw of power before the transformer drops it down i think, has nothing to do with power output.
ya whatever 500+ is lol, is not the 8080s wpcYou must be thinking of voltage.
Hey thanks,Ipaid 50$ for it about ten years ago, I fired it up & what a diff. From my HarmonKardon/430. Just would like to ask another? Right now I have 6 ohm pioneer speakers hooked up,,( one pair) am I going to destroy them?If I remember correctly, the 8080 can handle a 4 ohm load, that would be either 2 pairs of 8 ohm speakers or a single pair of 4 ohm.
The reason it says 520 watts on the back is because the amplifier is not 100% efficient. There is power wasted as heat during the amplification. 80watts x2 would only be 160 watts, but there are lamps in it, and all the other parts that use power to run as well. Most of that extra power goes to heat, but it does not probably actually draw that much unless used at maximum output.
How do you like it?
