I was thinking the same thing. Between packing materials and the shipping charges, I'd be looking at at least $75 to get one shipped.

Would depend on how far it would be going,if it was only a state or two over that seems like WAY to much.
Shipped my Kenwood Eleven II USPS,was only $27.46 for a 50 lb box.700 miles.

My FISHER RS-2015 cost $70 for a HUGE box,1000 miles.

What service did you use, and what time frame are we talking about? Shipping rates have gone up a lot in the past couple of years. Last time I priced out something the size of an 8080 to go anywhere via USPS Parcel Post, I think the total postage was $47. Add in at least $15-$20 worth of packing materials and the time to do it right along with a trip to the post office, and $75 is already gone.

The kenwood was shipped 9 months ago USPS parcel post.Chicago sub to Ok ,mapquest says almost 700 miles.

Can remember the shipper for the Fisher,think it was a flat $70 to ANY buyer on ebay if i remember correctly.HUGE box,like 30x24x24.You could put 2 of them in it.lol
MA to OK,close to 1000 miles says mapquest.

Shipping cost is about right.

This receiver is listed in FL and buyers are always in either CA and OR, sometimes WA.
Similarly, if receiver was in CA, buyers are normally from FL or NY. Always the case.

Middle-of-the-country sellers have clear advantage, they could offer cheaper shipping.

And don't forget that out of $100 shipping, eBay will take $10-15 "shipping fee".
Don't ask me why.

Return shipping By Fedex for the Kenwood was about $35 insured, after being repaired .

The 8080 ended up selling for $250,someone got a good deal.I thought it would go for more then that,i think the $100 shipping eliminated some potential bidders.

Shipping is way too much unless for white glove delivery.
I passed on one for $80, fully working but few knobs missing.
I didn't need a project so no regrets.
