Just picked up this Sansui 9090db for a steal. Seems to be working. The pots need deoxit but that's about it! Lights on the tuner seem dull buy I'll need to open her up!

Dial lamp solder joints are a known issue on these.

Nice "scroe!" I have 3 of these. Yes open her up and show us some nudies. Some of us are particularly drawn to Sansui Porn. Yes as @Robisme says, the lamp clip solder joints are well known to crack from the heat of the incandescent bulbs. Fix them, then replace the lamps with 29mm (NO longer) fuse type 8v LED "cool white" (my preference) and the "blue" of dial face will come alive.
Nice RA-500 you have there too. I have one, and the RA-700 too both rebuilt.

How are your soldering and technical skills? If it is still "original", it will need some work done before the "magic smoke" gets released. ALL fusible resistors and any corrosion caused by the infamous "Sansui glue"..

It took me a while when I first came on board. Just hit "forums" and scroll down the list until you find "Exclusively Sansui"..

I have this same issue on my 9090db. I have decent soldering skills. I've recapped receivers and fixed other things but really don't have a clue about signal paths etc. If I open this up and reflow the solder on the lamp joints, will that possibly solve the issue? I will replace with LEDs while in there. Thank you!
