Hi everyone, I'm looking for someone to work on my Sansui 9090db (77-78). It won't come out of protection mode. I'm in Huntsville, Al. Hoping to find someone close. Any suggestions?
Thanks

A quick google search turned up these guys, American Video Service. The website doesn't say much but the google reviews mention vintage audio repair. There is even a picture of a Sansui amp.

Unless you know why the 9090DB won't come out of protection (like shorted speaker wires and it smoked) it's possible that it's the fuse-able resistors on the driver board causing the issue.

Do you have a meter that you could check them with? They can be tested while still installed on the board, and the board is easy to remove.

Can you change resistors yourself? If not, maybe you could bring just the driver board in to the shop. Or ship the board to someone that has a 9090DB and is willing to check it out.

Rob, the fusible resistors are indeed the #1 suspects and replacing them is not that hard. In reality though, it's also likely that the controls all need to be cleaned. To do that properly takes some disassembly. That takes a good deal more skill.
