Sansui AU-517 and Project TurnTable humming noise

Nothing to do with your current issue but having that much exposed conductor on your speaker wires is just begging for a problem. Anything metal comes across those and the magic smoke will be released.
 
Safe to assume it is the TT that is the problem now, I think.

Humm/zzzz noise gets louder when I disconnect the ground wire. I do NOT have the humming/zzz sound when playing cd. I've tried it with Phone 1 and Phone 2.

Ok, that suggests that there is not a break in your ground wire. Looking at the RCA cables you're using, there doesn't seem to be much shielding and they look longer than needed. Do you have any shorter cables with better shielding?

Yes, with the RCA plugged in to either Phono1 or Phono2, when I groundwire is plugged in, hummm/zzz noise is slightly less but I can clearly hear it when I'm playing record. If I undo the groundwire, the noise gets much louder.
I do not hear the sound when playing CD.

The RCA cable is NOT detachable from the turntable ... the turn table doesn't have RCA cable holes... the wire goes from back of the TT and only the other end has the rca plug ... if that make sense to u ...

The RCA cable is directly connected to the TT... i can't remove that to have a shorter cable :(

Ok, it looks like you've got a Project Essential II turntable. Check out this video:


Before you do what the guy in the video does. Try plugging your turntable into an outlet other than the one that the Sansui is plugged into. Sometimes that helps with hum/buzz.
