Sansui AU20000 F-2508 board test point voltages?

I made these up to put across the power filters. 3.9k ohms and 4.7 uf 3,000 volt poly caps.

For what it's worth, the bleed resistors R03 and R04 are located on the protector board.

What I don’t like is Sansui used 80 volt caps but the rails are at 85? I am going to up the power filters to at least 100 volts. Haven’t been able to find the correct size yet.

https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/647-LKG2A223MKZ. These are the same size as the original capacitors, 76mm x 100mm (diam x h). Rated at 100V. The voltage rails here are ~68Vdc. Nippon Chemi-con have 22000uF 100V available, similar dimension although slightly taller, 76mm x 105mm, I believe they only just fit within the chassis.

If you go with the Nichicon LKG, you may need to clear the hole in the solder lug in order to use the original attachment hardware. I suggest using a fine round file. A drill bit will catch and tear. You may also need to bend the bus bar to suit the change to vertical attachment.

I ended up ordering these. They will just fit. My measurements show that there is 4.25 inches of space to the underside of the left frame rail. And at 24,000 uf they are within 10% and good on voltage. They are also better on ripple vs the LKG’s which are great caps as well. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Cornell-Dubilier-CDE/DCM243U100DC2B

The original caps are definately eating current as one would expect even though they test fine overall. I already used my dremel to enlarge the connector openings. My esr meter died but I can see a difference in main line draw vrs the new caps I just installed in my BA3000 and it appears to creep up over a couple hours.

The only remaining issue is my right meter which works fine on the input signal but not on amp output. Hoping it’s just a trimmer or adjustment.

Otherwise this unit is close to perfect and sounds fantastic. The BA3000 and AU20000 may be my favorite sounding vintage units. But I won’t be selling my Luxman M4000, Pioneer Spec 4 or My Marantz 510m. The next page of my journey will be accuphase if I can ever figure out what is what…I already finished my Mcintosh walk about.

I installed the new power filters and mainline draw dropped almost 100mA at 5 minutes from startup vs the originals. Will keep monitoring and see where it stabilizes. 1709591863077.jpeg
