I think I will go with the Sanken 2SA1294 / 2SC3263 pair

They should be fine.

Don't believe this doubtful assertion that stuffing a rectangular transistor lead into a socket intended to take a round pin is an OK thing to do. If you take a look at the method I devised (for TO-3P conversion), using round gold plated pins I think you will see the sense of doing it this way. (see link in post #16 of this thread).

Digikey has also complementary 2SA2151 / 2SC6011 (TO-3P) if you really want to keep fT same to originals.

200V / 15A / 160W / 50~180hFE / fT 20MHz / 270pF (450pF)

I like Sanken LAPT 2SA2223/C6145. A2151/C6011 are good parts too, I used some of those to repair a Kenwood KA-1100SD.
