Sansui TU-7700 ?

Is the Sansui TU-7700 a respectable tuner? I just picked one up today...exterior was in great condition. Any insight would be appreciated. thanks

There are many Sansui tuners in our On-Deck Circle http://www.fmtunerinfo.com/on-deck.html
that we'd like to consider listing here if we can get some basic information on them (types of controls and features, and any personal anecdotes or comparisons to other tuners). Please post in our FMtuners group if you have any information about any of them.

Very respectable tuner - not quite at Sansui's best but not far short of it. Looks gorgeous and sounds pretty damn fine too. The attached brochure refers.

the 7700 has to be a pretty rare model. At one time, I had every piece Sansui made as far as tuners and amps. Would guess the 7700 is the forerunner to the TU 717, but a guess only.

on yours, would suggest as a min, to re cap the power supply. I have worked on quite a few of the Sansui and Yamaha tuners. power supplies are usually pretty straight forward and not too tough to get too.

not a lot of info on the TU 7700

I know is it's very similar to the TU-7900, which is the little brother to the TU-9900

I actually picked up the TU 7700 a month ago at my local stereo shop. $100 out the door, It looks great & sounds very nice.

I actually disconnected the ( white) light on my TU-7700, I thought it was distracting & unnecessary

I ordered a bunch of 10 x 3mm and 10 x 5mm pre-wired blue LEDs for my TU-7700 and TU-5500 from fleabay for about $10 they have a resistor in series covered with shrink wrap with 20cm leads all ready to connect to the 12v on #1 fuse. This will fix the glaring white light and make the tuner look cool at the same time.
