I believe my father had one. A decent entry level table, but not worth anywhere near 175. Obviously, a known functioning turntable in great shape and just across the yard ,so no shipping and potential destruction, is worth more than one without all those qualities, but still...
Look on Ebay at completed auctions (more to the point, get your neighbor to do the same). Anyone can ask any amount of money they want for anything on Ebay, and simply doing so creates the idea in some people's mind that the asked price has some relevance, which boosts the market. But what people will actually pay, which is what completed auctions shows, is actual information (leaving aside the possibility of unpaid buyer's regret situations).
