Sanyo TP625 anti skate missing

51 yo newb here.
About 27 years ago (wow, has it been that long?) I retrieved a bunch of equipment from a CBC studio that was being ripped apart. One of the items that I picked up but never really used, until recently, was a Sanyo TP625 turntable. It has a Sony head on it and I have put an Ortofon 3E on it at some point, I guess. I thought it sounded pretty good but I hadn’t spent a lot of time listening to it. Kids were around. No focus. I’m spending more time now and yesterday I hooked it up to my NAD 7130 to give it a listen. Then, I noticed it is missing the anti skate mechanism that screws into the right side under the pivot of the tone arm. I haven’t been able to find that part online or any parts-only versions of the TT. Should I just rig up a weight on a piece of monofilament and run it through a makeshift wire support or something or should I continue my search? Thoughts? Comments?

hello. you can attach a non-original weight, but you need to know the exact weight of the original in order to pick up a similar one, or make it yourself.
 
ask the owners of these players on the forum, what would someone weigh on a jewelry scale, and let you know. Well, then you can think about what to replace it with.
 
Are you missing the whole assembly or just the little weight that’s on the assembly ?
I have the tp600 tt which has same tonearm.
 
I’m missing the bottom mechanism. The part that holds the weight (Weight missing too) I have the post that comes horizontally out from the vertical pivot, though. I’ll post a pic in a bit when I get near the TT.
 
You can see the hole where there is no mechanism attached but above is the arm that would be resisted to give the opposite force. As an experiment, I bent some wire and screwed it down to the turntable (I know sacrilege screwing screws all willy-nilly into an old TT! But I am not precious) Then tied some thin fishing line with, what I think may be a 1g split shot sinker, to the existing arm and threaded it through the eye of my hastily bent wire. I may need to rework the position of this dangling weight because it seems that it currently applies little force at the outer edge of the record and, perhaps, too much at the inner groove. If I lay the stylus down on the blank spot of the end of the record it comes back before catching the run out groove. Ideally I would like to either find a proper replacement for the real missing mechanism, or even manufacture one myself, if I knew how it worked/ had some dimensions and views.

I agree with you, the original would be to the point, but I meant the weight of the original weight, and the selection of a similar one.
 
Seems simple enough to make a lever mechanism. I just need an adjustable weight of some sort mounted on an arm connecting into a pivot on another arm. I need to deliver up to 2g max of antiskate force, if I recall from the service manual. Unless I am missing something. I may just try to get a list of TTs with similar mechanisms and see if I can't find one that is available for parts if all else fails

Yes, I was looking at some photos of one over here -> Peculiar anti-skating device on a CEC tonearm (page 1) - Tonearms - Lenco Heaven Turntable Forum
and it does look very similar. I should be able to make something similar with a bit of thinking.
