Scared sh*tless to buy inner sleeves...

Keeping the LP outside of the jacket is quite common and often done during shipping to keep the LP from busting thru the jacket seams. I use those Ultimate Sleeves as the record will slide out very smoothly without having to remove the inner jacket from the Jacket, which lessons the amount of times you stress the outer jacket. And I use a re-sealable outer sleeve with the flap on the side where the record is inserted. With the sleeve flap sealed the outer sleeve doesn't bunch up when sliding it on shelves that are full of records, and then when you pull it off the sleeve you simply un-seal the flap and the record slides out without having to remove the inner jacket.

I have a lot of older LP's and as they are 50 or 60 years old the more you remove a sleeve with record and then insert it the more chances you take at splitting a seam as the glues get old and the cardboard gets week. Luvvinyls method is another way to lesson outer jacket wear, and on the more collectable releases preserving their value means outer jacket preservation as well as vinyl condition. As more of the old LP's are moving into the 4 digit dollar range the difference in worth of ones with well preserved outer jackets along with the vinyl itself it just makes sense to use well tested methods to help insure and increase their values.

The MOFI inner sleeves work very well. With a little practice it's easy to avoid binding or bunching when sliding them into the record jacket. I also like the rice paper or poly lined paper sleeves that some record companies use. I think I'll give the "Ultimate" inner sleeves a try.

I prefer the Diskeeper sleeves. They're heavier and more rigid than the MFSL sleeves, so they're easier to get into the jacket. They're all around just better, I think.

But they're only intermittently available on Amazon for some reason.

Sleeve City has always had them in stock when I order.
 
I usually go sleeve-less...............................................then tie it in the front (Daisy Duke style).

I am finally near to running out of the MOFI inner sleeves I won at the last AK Fest I attended. So, heeding recommendations in this thread, I just ordered 50 3.0 mil Resealable Outer Sleeves, and 50 Diskeeper Ultimate Audiophile Inner Sleeves, from Sleeve City. They have been on back order for a while, but they are now apparently back in stock. I ordered them directly from Sleeve City, and, I am informed, they have shipped.
