I don't have Vidars, or any Schiit for that matter, but I seem to recall a thread where some mentioned their Vidar made a humming/buzzing noise. Just going from memory it was a mechanical noise not in the audio output.

I remember that

Believe that was solved by Schiit... also , using XLR mono relieved that problem

I could be wrong

(doing my best to stay away from money/price discussion)

1x Freya +

2x Vidar (Mono blocks)

I would expect that setup to sound very, very good.

I have bought two different DACs, a preamp and headphone amp from Schiit - very happy with all. Great company.

I have not heard the Vidar, but I have friends with this amp and they are very pleased.

Best of luck, let us know how it works out.

Cheers,

Snade

That’s is actually my end game plan in my travels down Schiit creek.

I have seen/read some reviews about the Aegir coming alive when used as mono blocks.

I am extremely happy with my 3 pieces of Schiit, BiFrost, Modi 2u and Mani. My daughter has a Loki that seems great.

Schiit seems to be some of the stuff that makes this a great time to be an Audiophool, great sound for short money.

Any quality/reliability feedback on their gear? My Modi failed after a year and is in warranty repair.

Most of my stuff is a few years old, zero issues so far. Some family members jumped onboard when they first started, 10 yrs I think, and they are still using their Org Schiit from back then.

Having worked professionally on electronics (and other things) since 1984... stuff breaks, even brand new stuff.

I own both a Fulla 2 and a Bifrost. Both perform great at their price point.

My only complaint is relay clicking when my transport is paused on the Bifrost.

In fact shortly I plan to upgrade to multibit.

Good luck on your purchase!

I do not do CD’s (GF does) and I have never noticed that. Now I need to climb up in the loft and experiment

I will report back.

I think a multibit is in my upgrade path.

I like mine on the lower end side - Magni 3, Magni 2. Modi 3 and a Fulla (original model). Only complaint is that the Magni 3's volume pot is a bit scratchy - I keep de-oxing it, and it gets better for a while, but it's just not a great pot. The Fulla had such a tiny pot, it's a bit noisy too. But they have been very reliable and I like the SQ just fine.
