Schiit Fans ?

I may have mentioned it in previous pages, but I sold my Freya + (and Vidar) because I got tired of the reach around(I know there are work-around for this). Plus, I just couldn’t get comfortable with the insane heat while in tube mode. I still own 6 or 7 Schiit pieces.

But I always respected the Freya’s SQ. Which is why I thought I’d pick up the Freya N for 599, for the desk top. The 3 modes of operation are great. Also, I’d eventually like to have 2 of the Vidar 2 running in mono and need a balanced pre for that.

The Freya is very flexible. Too bad they can’t or won’t put power buttons: on the remotes and on the fronts of their pre’s. That and auto turn on of the amps(either with 12v trigger or signal sensing) would make these perfect products.

But the killer SQ and the prices are enough for most of us to be fans.

Edit: on not receiving a response to my emails, my junk folder is empty of schiit. I made an email direct to Amy, one to the “support” address, and one to RA requests. Nada.
I too bought a Freya N today on USAM, I guess I'll give the 9 pin tubes a go. I just love the 3d nature of a good tube set up, here's hoping.

Still  about upgraded from my Saga + to a Freya :dunno:
That's a tough choice. I'm just back on a tube jag right now at least and the Saga doesn't have tube gain. The Freya gives me lots more expensive tubes to roll! :oops:But i know everyone seems to love the Saga. I'm also thinking ahead of maybe getting a small tube amp or monoblocks to pair with the freya. I'm really digging my Musical Paradise integrated again so now I'm getting even more tube stuff. Which may be a crazy idea concerning the tube situation currently.

I'm very happy with the Freya Noval. The system is smoother and more balanced than with the Khozmo passive I've been using for a few years. The passive stage of the Freya sounds warmer in the upper midrange, in a good way and maybe a bit less tweeter extension. Listening to the music I'm familiar with using the Khozmo, I haven't had the urge to eq anything, even crappy recordings. The Loki is getting lonely. The tube stage, in comparison, sounds a tick warmer, a couple ticks of tube holography and a tick less up top. it doesn't 3D as well as my tube integrated but that has KT77 power tubes and this setup is a Coda SS amp. Obviously there is a lot more bass with that. I'm using raytheon 6cG7's in the gain section and they have none of the upper hardness that some 6922 types can have.

I really enjoyed my Freya S, I liked it better than the Freya original tube I owned. The Freya S, and a few other preamps have been replaced by a PS Audio Stellar Gaincell DAC/Preamp, I found on the used market. Very pleasing all around sound with the Zu DW6 Supremes as both a DAC and Preamp.

I love my loki max with the remote control for setting frequency changes from my chair. I have one kind of universal setting that I use a lot, one for most piano music, and one free floater for tailoring sound on an as needed basis. It has made a world of difference, especially for poorly recorded classical music which often lacks decent bass or ear splitting treble. It doesn’t seem to have much effect on the sound overall such as veiling or such. Highly recommended.

I just picked up some more Schiit: a Bifrost 2 and a Loki Mini+. Also got a Lyr headphone amp that I have no use for, so I’ll likely get rid of it and the Modi 3+.

Anyone own a Urd? At first sounds like a $1299 CD player, but every CD player with that transport goes for far more and I have DACs with all the inputs this thing outputs. Marantz CD6007 is my current and reference CD player.

Urd is kinda spendy for a new toy, but I am intrigued.
