Scott Copley 203 Console

yeah, thats right in the transition period. 64-67 or so is when the hybrid stuff is most commonly seen. I'm gonna guess thats a 1965 model console since the schematics are from so late in '64. None of the Scott equipment was garbage, so you don't have a lemon there. It won't have the prestige of an all-tube version but I wouldn't kick that to the curb either. With the tube pre, it will have a lot of the tube sound, but you'll have more power and no expensive output tubes to buy. Plus, you have a nice piece of musical furniture that your wife approves of. I'd still call it a win.

Ya it's a Solid State power amp. Happened to me a few weeks back except my truck lost it's engine on the way home.

All I got was one measly 12AX7.

Damn "Q"s

You ought to carry a laptop,or web phone with you,so you can research a unit before wasting money on them.

The score...

THAT is a beauty, well worth many times what you paid IMO. try to keep that together would be a shame to cut up that one. did you get both channel running? I bet it will sound quite good once you have!

I'm in way over my head. My first question...

I hear that you should bring tube stuff up slowly on a variac. I don't have one. Does this matter since it is tube pre but transistor power? If I recap first can I then safely give it power. Does this thing have any of the selenium rectifiers I hear about? Maybe under the square covers? If not, what is under those squares and s it safe to remove those covers?
