I LOVE the "frequency response control panel" LoL, also known as a graphic eq mounted really stupidly. But still, very interesting piece! ic mos-fet, wondering how it sounds...

how do YOU think it sounds? how's the tuner's reception? anything wrong with the unit? what does the rear panel look like? how much power does it draw (watts) from the AC? how heavy is it? can you pop the top and show us an inside pic?

I cleaned & hooked it up last night & was very surprised. It has a nice clean, rich sound (sounds a little forced at higher volume). Tuner reception is pretty good. it weighs about 25 lbs. it has a couple blown bulbs but otherwise works great. I added a couple pics as requested and would appreciate any info.
Any idea what this might be worth? I have a Luxman L-235 amp that I getting repaired & when I get it back will probably want to sell this one. Thanks again

why sell it ?? what ive done alot in the past is when i up grade as ive done quite a few times. is you have any friends that would like a stereo? let them
have it- pass on the good karma- it has alot of value, i.e. as in listening time :thmbsp:

I have the RE-1800 it is in need of Repair it has been in my Family since it was bought in the 70's , still have the original speakers that came with it as well , let me tell you from years of experience with this System , it has great sound , seeing as my Parent have passed away within 18 months of each other it was left to me , so I will be getting it repaired & using it with complete joy for the rest of my days , if you need info on it please feel free to ask I still have the original Users Manual for it as well .

strictly my opinion - if u like the sound, keep it for the garage, another room etc. I could be wrong and often am, but I would not expect that to sell for too much money unless someone happens to be a collector. Not saying it is not nice, resale value does not necessarily reflect how good a piece of gear is.

Dig the twin mini spring reverb tanks! I saw a "Reverb" knob on the front. Looks like it has cap-coupled outputs. Probably not much resale value...I'd hang onto it myself just because it's unique. The mic input and reverb will let you do karaoke, if that's your bag. :)

Can you describe what's wrong with it?

Hey guys! Hello @Stereo-Man I'm taking a chance hoping that some of you might respond, I got my hands on a Sears RE-1800 and was wondering if any of you would happen to have a service manual of this baby. As as I sent mine to my Tech to clean up etc.. and while he was testing this receiver, the moment he comes to the point to plug his external speakers to try the stereo, bam the left channel stop working or get busted. He tried the experience two times, he changed two transistors of the left, did his power test without the speakers plugged everything works, the moment he plugs back his speakers, left channel jumped and no sound on the left channel.

Any idea what could for some of you who might have experience with it??

Thanks in advance

Best,

Don't think StereoMan will be any help as he made that one post 10 years ago and has not been back since. I suppose you could start a conversation (PM) and see if he responds.
Couple questions for you, only happens with speakers connected?
Possible dead short in cable or a speaker?

You might hit up bodyblue here on AK. He worked for Sears and has some info about who made some of the receivers.
