I plan on replacing the selenium rectifier in the bias circuit on my Fairchild 260 and want to know if it is a simple 1 for 1 replacement of silicon for selenium. Or, is there any modification necessary other than substitution of one part for the other?
..........
Thanks!
Just 1 to 1 R&R should do the trick. You could put in a dropping resistor to simulate the increased forward voltage drop characteristic of the former rectifier, but if the measured voltage on the input filter cap is still within its working ratings then you should have no worries. Initially the output tubes will be biased colder than before, but there appears to be an adjustment for that.
