Sennheiser HD-424 Replacement Drivers

I have a pair of these and need drivers. I see complete phones on EBay, but they run around $500. Has anybody seen, or know of a source for replacement drivers?

First of all, there are a lot of different drivers that you can find in HD-424. The same situation as in its smaller brother, the HD-414. The first had 2000 Ohms, later someting between 200 and 600 Ohms. They even sounded different. So it would be important to know how old the cans are. And I don´t think Sennheiser still has drivers for them. Earpads are available as are the cables.

$500 for HD-424's? They must be limited-issue models because otherwise the 424 is not particularly sough-after considering it was very common in its day and barely above entry-level... used those in the very basic student radio studio we had in high-school, sounded good for the money but provided no isolation. I remember using a set as an ad hoc microphone for about a week following the impromptu death of our only broadcast mic. The foam padding was perfect for the purpose, it could be used outdoors even in windy conditions. Had to whisper though otherwise we'd sound like Tarzan, had to do with sondboard impedance issues iirc.
