Can anyone suggest a good/experienced shop in MA, Southern NH, Rhode Island to service my Marantz 8B Amp and 7C preamp.

Can't help with an experienced tech, but nice to hear about a 7/8b pair that is hopefully alive and repairable. Wonderful things. What actually is wrong? Apologies for being captain obvious, but easy things like tubes are checked, right?

Hi.
I turn the amp and pre amp on and let warm up for about 20 minutes usually. About 60 minutes later when about to play music there was no power to the amp. There has been a crackly and popping sound when the volume was turned all the way down, it would go away then sometimes the left channel would just go out, I know very little about these units as they were given/willed to me by a relative and I want to have them professionally gone over to keep sounding awesome. The first thing I should do is check the fuse (should have done that from the start). But still would need to know why a fuse blew if that is indeed the issue.

AK member Grateful is in Boston. He's a great tech but I haven't seen him here for a few years.

I have used Urban antique radio & hi fi in West Hartford, CT - a bit of a drive, but they are very good - not inexpensive.... Repaired a Saba Konstanz KN-18 for me...

And AKer Baco99 runs a place called Holt Hill Audio, which builds new hi-end speakers and also does some repair work:

I bought some Braun L810 speakers from him a few years ago - excellent set. Worth checking out. They also have ads in the AK vendors section...

I'm sorry to learn that Aztech no longer services home audio - a friend just recommended them to someone looking for audio repair, I'll have to pass that info on to him...

I talked to Baco99 last week. Apparently he's losing his tech and not taking on any new work.
