Setton Owner's Club

I know that Sam has one. And TBK (aka Henry) most likely will have one soon. There are a few people that want one. Do we have enough members here for a Setton Owner's Club?

There's a set of Setton Service Manuals up for auction on E-Bay right now and one of our members has indicated that if he gets them, he'll make free copies. I don't know how to ensure he wins....but let's hope so. These Manuals are EXTREMELY RARE!!

Here's the Setton Web Site that other AKers have helped me put together.

Probably not, considering how rare they are. Personally, I'd rather keep them obscure we few can enjoy them.

Hey Chris, if ExJxC isnt winning in the end or gets outbid in the end by a non AKer, why dont you snipe the bid so we can insure that someone here has it? If he is winning, then I wouldnt worry about it. I really need that RS-660 one or a copy of it.

Henry - I can understand your concern about getting the 660's Service Manual. Although mine's fine at this time.....you never know with vintage audio. ExJxC and I will make sure they don't slip away.

No worries here, I'm not going to bid on them. However, I can use a copy of the RS 660 s.m. as the amp section is the same as my BS 5500.

We are not alone in the universe!

Consider me "IN". I aquired a RS-440 in barely operable condition. I sent it up to Stereo Surgeon In CT. and they returned a very satisfactory upper echelon garage unit.

The unit sounds quite satisfactory given its age and vintage. The original soft-on circuit was beat up by the former owner and SS had to RE-wire the ON/OFF power using the Hi-Filter button via a High Current relay switch. IT WORKS GREAT. The regular power/speaker selector switch controls ONLY the speakers.

This unit is quite visually appealling and is good company among my Sansui G901 and Kenwood KR-9050 receivers. I unloaded my several Pioneer SX-1250's and Sansui G9700 as they were less satisfying as my "keepers".

So where do we go from here?:scratch2:

Garage unit!! Arghh, get your Setton out of the elements and into your home.

I have a really nice RS-440 that I like a lot. Hope to find some more Setton pieces someday. Consider me in!

I guess you didn't get my "artistic license" referring my to my setton as a upper echelon garage unit.

It is sitting right under and Is the sonic mouthpiece for my Pioneer Elite CLD-D701 laserdisc player and well worn Sony KP-53S65 RPTV. It performs quite well in this role as I don't use it as a HT, rather an upscale TV. It feeds a pair of Rogers LS5/3a and with a passive sub.

I stand corrected, I didn't see your RS 440 in your avatar. I see many garage units that have been exposed to years of salt air. As a result, they are corroded inside and out. This is a slow death unbefitting of any vintage piece let alone a Setton.

Duly noted!

In recent updates to my avatar, I was forced to be selective in featuring the units which represent THE current sonic environment in the main listening room. The APS-13 antenna, Channel Master rotor, Belden cables, (modded) Sansui Tu-919, 9900, Sansui G901 & (modded)Kenwood Kr-9050, Kt-917, 600T. Then (2x) Monster HTS-3500 mkII and various levels of Straightwire IC's & speaker, Nordost Valhalla and Kimber IC's & speaker cables couldn't make the cut.

Thus no space for the SETTON!

If you were following the other Setton thread, you will know who got them and how you can get a copy for your Setton.

Welcome. Wow, you have the whole range!! How about the AS 5500 intergrated, do you know if it exists? Cheers, Sam.

The most recent RS-660 went for almost $400 on E-Bay. I paid only $200.00 for mine last year which was in even nicer condition. That's almost a 100% price increase in one year! Nice to see Setton catching on......
