Show off your Aquarium!

Tanks is in a really good place right now. Looks really good and everyone gets along. What's kinda cute and a little sad is the last one of my Tiger Barbs was looking a little lonely. I added 3 Golden Rams and the Tiger barb has adopted them and they now hang together.

Got my tank going again and decided on a green carpintis cichlid as solo show fish. I bought him when he was 2" and in a month he doubled his size and started coloring up. He gets to about 10" TL when full grown. Pretty aggressive. I have 3 Buenos Aries tetras that he chases around at feeding time but he has never injured any of them.

I bought a 55 gallon tank with LED hood, power filter, heater and some extras for $40.00 on Craigslist. I've been setting it up this past week. I just added my 3 Buenos Aires tetras in to help cycle the tank. I added a big cup of seasoned sand from my other aquarium, put a third of the aged water from the other tank in to it and squeezed the sponges from my filter into the new tank to add as much nitrifying bacteria as I could. My Carpinte will go in next after a couple of days. I may add some larger barbs to add some activity. I'm thinking about going with Amatitlania (Cryptoheros) Nanoluteus in the 40 breeder.

My modest setup is still going strong. Just cleaned the tank yesterday.

One fish has developed a cloudy right eye, left one is fine. It's the youngest in the tank. 10 years ago my daughters friend was closing her classroom for the holiday break, she knew it would die and talked us into taking it.
Otherwise, I was quite happy with the two I already had...they've been in the tank 16 years.

Have had mostly good luck with my aquarium except for beard algae had to fight a few months back. Didn't lose any fish and I change water at least twice a week and it's be held in check since. Haven't lost a fish in quite some time. There's 3 green cory cats I've had for 6 years. A couple of chinese algae that are 3 or 4 years. Had 3 Jewel Turquoise cichlids. Till they decided to dominate my 7" Severum Cichlid pictured below. The Severum is not aggressive at all. That wasn't true of 2 of the Jewel Turquoise. The biggest was 3/4's the size of Garfield but was very aggressive with all the fish. Woke up one morning and they were in a lip lock and it hadn't gone well for the Turquoise. He had holes chewed in him and he didn't make it. Rinse and repeat with 2nd even smaller Turquoise. The 3rd Turquoise was never aggressive and now they are bud's that hang together. It's a nice peaceful tank now
