While I was doing research before I bought my Mcintosh 4100 I came across a lot threads about them and other recievers. But, they all were pitting on reciever against another. It shows that a lot of people are passionate about their recievers so I thought I'd start a thread where people can show everyone what they have (or had) and why they love recievers!

I'll start with my 9090db and 4100. Both are excellent and different, in a good way. Like I said I don't want this to be a another versus thread so I'll leave it at that unless someone wants more details.

seems to me there is more love for rcvrs than anything else.
look at the kenwood forum an others. gobs of rcvrs.
look at the big pioneer rcvrs. gobs of love there.
just seems to me.
As for me, I have no use for the AM/FM so will not pay for it.
Used to tho eons ago when there was good stuff on them.

Stronger radio reception than any of my other 38 receivers including Pioneer, Sansui, JVC, Fisher, Miida etc.
with only a chunk of 16 AWG speaker wire 5' long hung on light in ceiling of basement_:p

Sure I have some of the bad boys too, Pioneer SX-1080, Sony STR-V5, Sansui 9090, JVC JR-S401, JVC-JR-S400 in the bunch but I posted the little Sony as my fave because it was the most bang for the buck ever.

I love my Optimus STAV 3200. Clean, powerful and seemingly bulletproof as when I use it the volume is 1/2 and up. You can turn it all the way to max and it sounds great with no noticeable distortion. 100 wpc I believe it's a 1993 it has a separate 30 wpc amp section for surround which I do not use

Four systems, one receiver. I prefer separates, but that doesn't mean I don't, or haven't, love(d) some receivers.

Have this small form factor model in service in mother-in-law's room; sounds good driving Minimus 7s:

Have loved a 70s Kenwood KR-6030, and three different xx40 series NADs, the 7140, 7240 and C-740. Gave the latter to a relative recently, along with a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitors v3.
 
Does this include newer AVRs? I've owned many receivers over the years. In the past 15 years I've been buying AVRs and the occasional preamp processor - which is what I use currently. Last thing I need is another receiver but I up and added another to my collection. That would be the Sansui 500a. I bought one in 1966 while I was in the USN. Got it in Yokosuka Japan at the Naval Exchange. I think it cost $90? It was way cheap - that I remember. Anyway I bought a used pair of Acoustic Research AR-2 speakers after getting back stateside. I played that setup for about 5 years until the allure of solid state got too strong to resist. Anywho - that's why I have this 500a receiver. And FWIW I got the AR-2ax speakers since they were the speakers that I thought sounded better than just about anything I'd heard at the time, and we're talking the 901 era. Magnolia HiFi was really something back in the late 60s early 70s.

If I get time this weekend I might bring the ARs out into the living room and play them for the weekend.

Here's a pick of the back room set up. The TT is in the lower right side with some stuff on the dust cover. Oh oh! A no-no!
This room is a work-in-progress. Where the left speaker is located there was a 500 pound(felt like it anyway) freezer there just a week ago. And that wood you see on the wall held my work bench where I rebuilt/repaired laptops. It used to be somewhat profitable to repair laptops. I'll be clearing out stuff I've been saving for ---- well - I don't know what for! Sorting has begun however! So it's underway. I plan on having eight 4'x2' sound absorbing panels spread about the room along with bass traps - and one recliner in front of the setup you see below. It takes time but hell - I'm retired.

Oh year - I have one other receiver - an Onkyo TX8050. Nice modern receiver. And I know having a Nikko NA-690 integrated doesn't count as a receiver but that's what the Sansui replaced. I'd sell it but it works and sounds so danged nice and I'd get not much in return. Nice integrated amp.

image.jpeg image.jpeg I really like my Sansui receivers. I have a G4500 which sounds great with my modern monitor audio bookshelf BX1s. I also have a Sansui 7000 that sounded great until a channel when out. Almost a perfect match with my Advent 1s. Will get it rebuilt next year or so.

The Pioneer elite sc 09 was great for home theater but to my ears not that great for 2ch listening.

Edit : found some pictures of my B&K 507s2, great receiver from B&K very good sound. Have had more if I find the pictures I will update.

Coincidentally I just saw one of these at a thrift today.$54.99.Not sure how they came up with that price as they are usually priced at $34.99.Felt hefty enough but just don't need anymore.

Wow that looks like a BEAST! I've heard of these Onkyos.Real nice.
For me It is the Yamaha RXZ9.Considered by some the HOLY Grail of HT receivers along with a few others including that Onkyo.I'm in the process of making space for it and the speakers.I had my share of 70s receivers and considered them works of art but have moved on from them pretty much except a Sony 7065.A true beauty.
